Barclays have announced that the Bangor branch will close on the 10 May. This will be a huge blow to Bangor.
We've written the letter below calling for Barclays to reconsider this decision. Please help us make a statement by putting your name to the letter. The more signatures we get, the more chance we have of getting heard.
"Dear Barclays Bank,
We the undersigned are writing to express our concern about the closure of the branch in Bangor, Gwynedd.
It is a vital resource for many not only in Bangor but in a wide geographical area and is used to by local businesses, market traders and students (both local and international) and residents. It is a lifeline for those who need to work in cash, those who are unable to access online services and those who simply need face to face support.
Since Barclays branches in Llangefni, Caernarfon and Porthmadog closed, the Bangor branch has served a wide area, and is the only high street branch left in Gwynedd and Anglesey.
Loosing this branch will mean not only that Bangor residents will face a 40 mile round trip to access branch services, but those on Anglesey or Western Gwynedd will face far more.
We, the undersigned, are writing to ask you to reconsider this decision. Please keep it open.
Regards, "
